PEOPLE & PLACES OF JORDAN
Amman . Petra. Wadi Rum . Dead Sea
Jordan is known for such iconic experiences as visiting Petra, overnighting in a tented camp in the Wadi Rum desert, and floating in the Dead Sea. But this ancient destination has a lesser known side; one that is both inspiring and enriching.
This journey includes the traditional historic sites of Jordan - Amman, Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea - but also introduces you to Jordan's human side. Jordan is the Middle East's most progressive feminist nation, constantly pushing for more gender equality. As a result, Jordan is a haven for female refugees from more repressive nations. These women come to Jordan to freely express themselves through their art, and their work. Our trip includes the following encounters:

-
Visit the Iraq Al-Amir women's cooperative, where you will meet local women, have a chat over a cup of tea and visit their craft workshop.
-
Enjoy lunch at Hikayet Sitti Restaurant in Madaba. The restaurant is women-owned. Meet the chef and learn about her cuisine and her journey.
-
At Dana Nature reserve, meet with local artisans and crafts women.

These uplifting experiences will become part of the tapestry of memories you weave in Jordan.
