On this adventure, you'll experience the enchantment of Tokyo Disneyland or DisneySea, where beloved Disney characters come to life, and thrilling rides and attractions offer excitement for the whole family.  Opt to visit Universal Studios Japan as well. 

 

Then, head to Hakone to explore the natural wonders of this lakeside resort with (weather-permitting) views of Mt Fuj. Your family will bond over your shared experiences at your Japanese ryokan (inn).

 

Finally, base yourselves in timeless Kyoto to enjoy the rich cultural heritage as you visit historic temples, stroll through traditional neighborhoods, and savor the flavors of Kyoto's famous cuisine, from kaiseki dinners to street food delights. On your days at leisure you can opt to explore Arashiyama bamboo forest, feed the deer in Nara, visit the manga museum, explore Osaka and Universal Studios Japan, or any of the many activities available. 

Additional guided touring can be added to this itinerary; it is fully customizable.

Day 1   Arrive Tokyo

On arrival in Tokyo, board the Airport shuttle and transfer to your hotel for the following 4 nights. Rest of day at leisure. 
Stay: Keio Plaza Hotel, or similar   

Japan Akihabara

Day 2   Tokyo

Explore Tokyo on a customizable full day tour with visits tailored to the age of the participants. Perhaps start the day at Tsukiji Market, then visit traditional landmarks such as Senso-ji temple or modern monuments like Tokyo Skytree for panoramic views of the city. Head to the lively shopping district of Harajuku, known for trendy boutiques and fashion-forward street wear. Visit teamLab Planet or Borderless, or the anime and manga neighborhood of Akihabara. Join the human river at Shibuya Scramble.

Day 3   Tokyo Disneyland

Your package includes tickets to Disneyland or DisneySea (your choice). Use the hotel shuttle to ride to the Park and enjoy a full day of fun and excitement the Disney way.

Day 4   Tokyo

Day at leisure in Tokyo.

There are endless options for amusement in this amazing city; our Destination Specialists will offer suggestions. Or, just take the day as it comes.

Day 5   Tokyo - Hakone

Take the Romance train to Hakone. Using your Hakone Free Pass, take advantage of the extensive local transport network to explore this stunning area. Ride switchback trains, cable cars, ropeways, and buses – then embark on a pirate ship cruise, which will sweep you across the volcanic Lake Ashi while providing views of Mt. Fuji on clear days.

In the evening, enjoy your stay at a traditional Japanese ryokan, complete with delicious multi-course meals, a steaming onsen (hot spring) and futons laid out on tatami mats.

Day 6   Hakone - Kyoto

Travel from Hakone to Odawara on a local train then board the bullet train to Kyoto, traveling at speeds up to 200mph. 

Rest of day at leisure to settle in to your Kyoto accommodation for the following four nights, and explore the area around your hotel. There are over 1600 Buddhist temples and 400 Shinto shrines in Kyoto, you don't have to walk far to find one!

Day 7   Kyoto

A guide is at your disposal today to show you the highlights of Kyoto on a private tour. This is a customizable day, tailored by our Destination Specialists to the ages of the participants. Possibilities are Nishi Markets, Fushimi Inari and Kinkaku-ji, the most iconic temple and shrine in Kyoto. Perhaps choose to walk the Philosophers Path from Ginkaku-ji to Nanzan-ji temple. Recommended for all ages is a tea ceremony in a temple.

Day 8   Kyoto

Day at leisure to explore Kyoto independently, or add a guided experience to Osaka to walk along lively Dotonbori or go to Universal Studios Japan. Or, maybe head to Nara to feed the deer who live in the park of Japan's oldest temple. either way our Destination Specialists can help you plan the day.

Day 9  Kyoto

Day at leisure to explore independently, or add a guided experience.  We suggest a kimono-dressing experience, a cooking class, or a shibori-dyeing workshop. Arashiyama bamboo and monkey forest is a favorite and just a short train ride away. Whatever you decide to do in this historic city, you will create memories of the beautiful sights and delicious tastes of Japan.

Day 10  Depart

Bid goodbye to Japan today. Depending on whether you depart from Kansai Airport in Osaka, or from one of the Tokyo airports, we help you make arrangements to get there.
